Your 2024 TBR Pile

True story: I judged this book by its cover!

The cover illustration is taken from my favourite railway poster. It’s of Innsbruck in the early part of the twentieth century, looking up the Maria-Theresian-Strasse towards the Altstadt. Innsbruck, ringed by mountains and full of wonderful architecture is one of my favourite places in the world. So, naturally, I bought this book – which isn’t actually set in Innsbruck at all but in Lech and St Anton on the Tirol-Vorarlberg border. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, republished by the British Library, and discovered to my delight that Carol Carnac and ECR Lorac were one and the same person, meaning I had many more of her books to discover. As you can see there are four in my 2024 TBR pile so the year ahead is looking good!
